The Eastmure clan gets cozy at Christmas

Written by Angela Penn on December 8th, 2014.      0 comments

The beautiful Eastmure family let me hang out with them last Friday as they got festive! I'm loving their Christmas PJs - too cute!  Big sisters Natasha and Lilly simply ADORE their wee baby brother - this family has so much love, it's just so cute to see it in the kids who clearly love each other to bits.  Alena is not only a great hostess, she is the master of set design too and the tree and surrounding Christmas things were amazing! Down to the wee jars complete with fairly lights - gotta get me some of them!

The girls and I were discussing how cool it would be to have REAL LIVE fairies in these jars and what we would name them.  Lilly says she would call one Bendon.  "Brendon?" I ask?  "No, Bendon".

vicky & mark's city engagement shoot

Written by Angela Penn on December 3rd, 2014.      0 comments

Vicky & Mark chose Christchurch's inner city as the backdrop for their engagement shoot a couple of weeks ago and it was a beautiful, beautiful night!  I very rarely go into the City and they showed me loads of new things which were so cool to be able to photograph!

I think it's fair to say they were perhaps a little hesitant about being in front of the camera but by the end of it, they were dancing up a storm to beat of their own drums.  This is why I think it's so important to do a pre-wedding shoot if you get the chance!  We knew each other just that little bit more after it and when it comes to photos on their big day, they will be so much more relaxed.

sarah & matt's hampton lea / rossendale wedding

Written by Angela Penn on December 1st, 2014.      0 comments

Oh my gosh, what to say about these guys?  This wedding would have to, without a doubt, be one of THE BEST weddings ever.  It was full of emotion, laughter and love and it was AMAZING. Despite heavy rain warnings, the day was an absolute scorcher, getting up to 30 degress at the ceremony!  Anyway I don't think I can do them justice by writing about their gorgeous day and you're not here to read my waffle so here are some of their images....

there is no better time to get your photo taken...

Written by Angela Penn on October 29th, 2014.      0 comments

These gorgeous kids go to my son's school, in fact Maeve is in Harry's class. Isn't it funny though, how you get to know the parents of the kids the same sex as yours, but hardly talk to the others? I don't really know the girls' parents in our class at all!  That's probably because, as we all know, girls smell.

Maeve & Otto's mum Kerry, is going through cancer treatment and although this shoot was meant about the kids, I MADE her be in these photos.  Well, I suggested strongly that it would be a good idea and I'm so so glad she did it as you will see down the bottom of this post, we have a couple of gorgeous images of Kerry and her beautiful children.

Our location was a little different - it was down a very busy part of Linwood Ave - you know, before Eastgate (or after, depending on which direction you're coming from).  I've been wanting to shoot here for YEARS so when I suggested this location to Kerry, she was all for it!

corina & daryl's wedding - the sound of sirens

Written by Angela Penn on October 22nd, 2014.      0 comments

Corina & Daryl have been photographed by me for nearly two years, since their gorgeous wee daughter Jade, was born.  I've loved watching Jade grow and it's been my absolute pleasure to see this beautiful family evolve and bond.  So, when they asked me to shoot their wedding, it was a big HECK YES from me.  It's just so exciting to shoot someone you've met a few times before - I LOVE it!

Oh yes, you're wondering about the sirens reference?  Yeah, just me trying to be funny...  Corina & Daryl met through St John and the St John's folk and any reference to St John was prominent on their wedding day, so much so they had an ambulance meet us at Hagley Park.  I'm not sure how they got it there but I don't want to know.  "What goes on at St John... " etc etc.

sarah & bassam - engagement session amongst the horses

I think it's fair to say Sarah & Bassam and I hit it off straight away - I showed them my sample album - they gave me tea and chocolate.  And then the fun began!

The couple decided on using the Sandow Riding School in Templeton as the backdrop for their engagement shoot as this is where they met, and it couldn't have been more perfect!

nikolay's first steps - a lifestyle shoot

Written by Angela Penn on October 1st, 2014.      0 comments

I met these gorgeous guys a few weeks ago when they came up to my studio to check out my work and to make sure I wasn't a total nut-job.  I pretended I wasn't so we booked in their Lifestyle Shoot!  Grigoriy, Anna & wee Nikolay are from Ukraine and are totally gorgeous!!!

We started at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens where they fed the ducks, then wandered around together being totally in love and beautiful.  That works up an appetite so we went back to their place for cake!!!

rachelle & leon's city engagement session (complete with kids!)

Written by Angela Penn on September 28th, 2014.      0 comments

Did you know, that half of my wedding couples this season have kids?  Way more than when I first started shooting weddings and I love that element because kids can keep you down to earth and they're just so spontaneous and not usually as camera shy as their parents!! So it makes perfect sense to bring your kids along to your Love Shoot, right?

Here we have Rachelle & Leon, who are getting married in November, along with their gorgeous and very well behaved children, Bridget & Connor.

We met up at the Cardboard Cathedral and wandered around from there.

..... or as I like to call it, a Snog in the Fog.

So it was cold. It was wet.  It had been snowing.  So naturally we had Amanda & Simon's engagement shoot this day!  Apart from being cold and wet, the backdrop was awesome!!  I was in photographer heaven.  Wasn't so pleasant for this lovely couple but I LOVED that they were willing to put up with the weather to get some stunning shots!

victoria & sam's port hills engagement session

Written by Angela Penn on June 29th, 2014.      0 comments

Victoria and Sam booked me to shoot their wedding before we'd met so a couple of weeks ago when we arranged to meet for their engagement session, I had NO idea what to expect.  Mind you, neither did they.  This giggly couple had JUST gotten off a flight from Samoa that morning, so what I was expecting was two bedragled, sleep deprived, dehydrated people.  Instead I got two gorgeous, funny people who make one super cute, adorable couple!  I don't think they stopped giggling the whole time and I'd like to think it was partly my influence but as Victoria put it, "we're eggs!".

The weather couldn't quite make up it's mind that day - the fog kept rolling in and then the sun would come out.  Nevertheless it's still a beautiful sight up by Sign of the Kiwi.

sarah & matt's victoria park engagement session

Written by Angela Penn on June 25th, 2014.      0 comments

I have known Sarah for a long time now - our families were really close when we were kids, we all used to play netball together (Sarah's family is very talented in the sporting arena - me, not so much).  And my brother used to babysit Sarah and her sister!  So I was super honoured when they asked if they would photograph their wedding.  And or course I said big fat huge YESSSSS!!!

We met up at Victoria Park (well it's kinda behind the main park area - away from the people), so it was nice and private.

After a few 'go stand in that long grass and frolick around' photos, they ignored me and only had eyes for each other. I LOOOOVE this photo so much.

At the time of writing this blog, Sarah asked if I needed any more info from her and this is what she wrote:
" Matt was on the Fortune 500 List but lost his billions in the 1987 stock market crash, got a face lift, suckered some beautiful, honest, caring, extremely modest maori girl from Christchurch to marry him and the rest is history".  This girl is seriously hilarious. Matt, you are going to be kept laughing for the rest of your life. If not with her, then definitely AT her.

corina & daryl's engagement/family shoot at the botanic gardens

Corina and Daryl have been coming to me for family photos for over a year now - their beautiful daughter Jade was part of my Baby Grow programme and I just love seeing my families grow! So it gives me huge warm fuzzies to be asked to be Corina and Daryl's wedding photographer and I know there will be a few tears as this gorgeous couple says their vows in October.  They are super cute together and have made the most beautiful baby girl!  This wee family have become very special to me.  Anyway enough of my blathering on... here are a wee selection of their engagement photos from last month.  It was a beautiful Autumn afternoon with the most gorgeous light... ahhhhh.

Laura & Jack got married in the very picturesque Flock Hill Lodge and we were not disappointed as this stunning day unfolded!

I met the girls at Castle Hill where they were getting ready, and the day looked a little like this...

I loved these two gorgeous souls from the minute I met them.  Both so happy and open and just .. well ...downright lovely!

We met up 5 days before their wedding to do their engagement shoot and the weather couldn't have behaved more!

john & sally's beautiful port levy wedding

Written by Angela Penn on March 25th, 2014.      0 comments

John & Sally's wedding day was only a couple of days after we had that huge storm - they were one of the last to get power put back on and they still managed to put on an absolutely beautiful wedding celebration!  The weather behaved itself and was lovely the whole day.

First, I went to see the girls getting ready at Peak Homestead in Pigeon Bay, (where John's grandparents raised 9 children!).  On the way there were a few slips on the road but everything was well signposted, even telling me how to drive. :)

Sally's wee girl Stella, showed me around the house.

And I found Sally's dad watching The Princess Bride (one of my all time favourite movies - but you don't want your celebrant watching it - "mawwiage").  He was pretending to do his crossword....

Stella was wearing her great-grandmother's locket.

Then I whizzed over to Port Levy for the ceremony at the couple's beautiful home.  You should see their view!

First of all though, the setup in the marquee was sooo beautiful!

And that cake... (YES, it's a cake!!!).  Beautiful.

This is Darcy, Sally's second son. He's cheeky.  And adorable!

And then the girls arrive! First up, it's bridesmaid Emma and Stella. Gorgeous, girls!

julie & carl's sunny darjon vineyard wedding

Written by Angela Penn on March 20th, 2014.      0 comments

The day was stunning for Julie & Carl's Darjon winery wedding.  What a beautiful couple and a beautiful setting.  The bell rang out after they were married and added such a lovely touch. The couple's baby daughter Paige was an absolute delight and didn't make a peep during the cereomony - she's just gorgeous!
